Coaching approach

The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of awareness, insight and creativity.

A cornerstone of my coaching approach is to provide a safe, non judgemental, confidential space for you to “think out loud”.

This includes both what’s in view and what may be lying under the surface that may be creating resistance to change. Helping you to increase self-awareness and the possible choices facing you.

I believe that whilst we do not have always have control over events that affect us, we do have control over how we perceive and experience them.

Cowan Coaching - Taking it Forward

Taking it forward

I offer a free chemistry meeting, which typically lasts up to an hour. The purpose is twofold; to see if we are right for each other, and for me to understand your needs.

If we decide to go forward we will agree the practical aspects, including duration, venue and so on.

We will

Cowan Coaching - We Will
  • Start with where you are at.
  • Agree coaching objectives.
  • Explore what is important to you – your values and beliefs – as these will guide us later on.
  • Agree some near term and longer term actions.
  • Review progress together periodically.

Where the coaching happens

I am happy to meet in person (I live in London) or virtually. I have also found coaching outdoors in a natural setting to be effective both in reducing stress and bringing insights, which may not always be accessible in an office-based setting. This can be particularly so for desk-based executives.

For more intensive interventions, for example, during a crisis, I offer an intensive half day (or potentially full day) deep dive away from your normal office setting. I have found that distance can help to create perspective.
